Celebrating Rich's 30 years at CMC

This year marks an incredible milestone for Rich MacNeil, a CNC in our ICU, as he celebrates 30 years at Catholic Medical Center. What began as a leap of faith choosing CMC without ever having visited New Hampshire quickly became a fulfilling career built on innovation, teamwork and dedication to patient care.

Rich was drawn to CMC because of its reputation as a dynamic and innovative cardiovascular surgical center. He quickly learned that CMC was not just a hospital, it was leading the way in cardiovascular interventions.

Over the years he has witnessed and been part of many groundbreaking advancements in cardiovascular care. From pioneering techniques like off pump coronary bypass grafting to the Da Vinci robotics systems to aid in efficient vascular harvesting, CMC has consistently led the way with both state and national firsts improving patient outcomes and recovery times.

On Rich’s very first day in the ICU he was warmly welcomed by cardiac surgeon Dr. Benjamin Westbrook who was leading many of these innovations. That handshake marked the beginning of a lasting professional relationship and a career in cardiothoracic nursing that has now spanned three decades.

Throughout his 30 years Rich has embraced not only clinical excellence but also the spirit of mentorship. Today he finds great fulfillment in guiding and mentoring new nurses helping them discover their potential and passion for serving others. His commitment to fostering growth and teamwork reflects the culture that makes CMC special.

Rich’s journey highlights what sets Catholic Medical Center apart, innovation, collaboration, professional development and compassionate service to our community. We are grateful for his dedication and proud to celebrate the impact he has made over the past 30 years.

Rich’s advice to a new grad is, “Tap into those career opportunities by saying “yes” and in time set your own path and become the leader you were always meant to be.”
