Understanding delirium
Delirium is common among those in the ICU, and many on breathing machines can be considered at a high risk for developing it during their stay. Delirium may begin rapidly or gradually, and can cause you to feel frightened, angry, lonely and ashamed.
ICU survivors peer support group
Did you know that it's quite common for those in intensive care to have lingering effects from their stays? We're still learning how to prevent and treat post-intensive care syndrome, or PICS, but some benefit from sharing similar experiences. This support group is an opportunity for participants to gain practical skills and self-care strategies from those at different stages in the healing process.
The ICU survivors peer support group is a free event held the third Thursday of every month from 6 pm to 7:15 pm, via Zoom. If you're interested in attending, please email us to register for the ICU survivors peer support group.
