Understanding delirium
Delirium is common among those in the ICU, and many on breathing machines can be considered at a high risk for developing it during their stay. Delirium may begin rapidly or gradually, and can cause you to feel frightened, angry, lonely and ashamed. Learn more about some things you can do to help someone experiencing delirium.
ICU survivors peer support group
Did you know that it is quite common for those in intensive care to have lingering effects from their stay? We're still learning ways to prevent and treat post-intensive care syndrome, or PICS, but some have benefitted from sharing similar experiences. They find it can provide opportunities for participants to gain practical skills and self-care strategies from those ahead of them in the healing process.
The ICU survivors peer support group is a free event held the third Thursday of every month from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., via Zoom. If you're interested in attending, please email us to register for the ICU survivors peer support group.
