Pulmonary care we offer

We work in conjunction with the neurophysiology lab, pulmonary function lab and our pulmonary fitness rehabilitation program to offer state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic services. All of our respiratory services staff members are licensed by the National Board for Respiratory Care and the State of New Hampshire.

If you have difficulty breathing while performing daily tasks due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or another chronic pulmonary disease, our pulmonary rehabilitation program can help.

  • Be educated on proper medication delivery and compliance
  • Build and be able to use your own respiratory "tool box"
  • Learn how to use a personalized action plan
  • Receive information from multidisciplinary experts for healthier living and symptom management

What to expect from our pulmonary rehabilitation program

Chronic breathing problems can turn routine, simple tasks into a struggle.

Pulmonary rehabilitation focuses on building strength and endurance. Our pulmonary rehabilitation team will work with you, setting realistic goals for performing everyday tasks and activities with less impairment.

The program's medical director is a board-certified pulmonologist who oversees the implementation of your care plan and progress through the program. Both a respiratory therapist and an exercise physiologist help you manage chronic pulmonary conditions through education and individualized exercise plans.

You'll also meet and learn from others who are facing similar challenges in a safe, comfortable environment.

Our eight-week pulmonary rehabilitation program consists of:

  • Two, one-hour, medically monitored, small group exercise sessions per week
  • Classroom education for self-management of pulmonary conditions
    • Topics include disease and stress management, symptom control, proper medication use, optimal nutrition, energy conservation strategies and palliative care.

What is required for a complete referral to our pulmonary rehabilitation program?

The following are required to be accepted into our pulmonary rehabilitation program:

  • Most recent history and physical (H&P) and other pertinent medical information
  • Physician referral/physician clearance form
  • Pulmonary diagnosis
  • Recent electrocardiogram (EKG) — within 6 months
  • Recent Pulmonary function tests (PFTs) PFT — within 2 years
