Minimally invasive services we offer
Our team of surgeons, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and support staff are trained in laparoscopic and robotic surgery techniques.
Laparoscopic surgical techniques
Laparoscopic surgery is named after the primary tool used to lead the surgery, called a laparoscope. A laparoscope is a long, thin tube with a tiny camera and a light on the end. The camera sends pictures from the inside of your body to a TV screen, where the surgical team can monitor the progress of the surgery.
This type of technique allows our surgeons to look inside your body, without the need for a large incision. Conversely, the surgeon makes a small incision, just big enough for the scope to fit through. They then make several other small incisions for additional surgical instruments to fit through, such as clamps, scissors and stitching devices. Laparoscopic surgery is typically used for abdominal and pelvic procedures.
Robotic surgical techniques
Robot-assisted surgery can be a less invasive, more precise surgical option. Our facility was one of the first in the U.S. to perform surgery with this minimally invasive technique, and continues to use robotic technology to offer you and your family state-of-the-art surgical procedures.
