Features of our neurology program

Equipped with the latest medical research and advanced neurological training, our board-certified physicians are proud to offer you compassionate, leading-edge care. Above all, our mission is to treat your condition like the unique one that it is. In this pursuit, our specialists use advanced technologies, such as electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCS), to determine the proper course of treatment for your specific condition. Depending on the findings of these tests, botulinum toxin injections, specialized speech therapy and a sphenopalatine ganglion block (SPG block) are common treatments we may recommend.

Botulinum toxin injections

Commonly known as "Botox," we offer these types of injections for chronic migraines and muscle spasticity following a stroke. You may also be a candidate for botulinum toxin injections if you have been diagnosed with sialorrhea (excessive drooling or salivation) or dystonia (a movement disorder where your muscles contract uncontrollably).

EMG procedures

Your muscles move when nerve signals from the brain tell them to start working. An EMG procedure measures how well your muscles respond to those signals. If you undergo this test and it picks up a problem with nerve signaling, you may be diagnosed with a neuromuscular disorder.

NCS measurements

Nerve signals are electrical impulses that travel quickly throughout your nervous system. Sometimes, issues with the electrical activity in your nerves can cause pain, tingling or weakness in your muscles. NCS can measure how fast and how strong the electrical activity is in a nerve, as well as whether a nerve has been damaged.

SPG block

An SPG block can provide relief from migraines, nausea and other types of headaches and facial pain. During the procedure, a concentrated pain reliever is delivered through the nose and applied directly to the group of nerves that causes your headaches. Relief is often immediate, and can last for weeks or months, without the need for other injections or medicines. The procedure can be repeated as needed to reduce pain.

Specialized speech therapy

If you have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, our two-part speech therapy program can help you regain and maintain effective communication. We also offer a weekly maintenance group that provides support, encouragement and accountability. Participation in our program has been shown to help individuals with Parkinson's disease maintain their communication skills.

You generally need a referral from your primary care provider (PCP) for consultation on a specific medical condition or symptoms. Once we receive your referral, we will reach out to you directly to schedule your visit. For more information, contact us at (603) 641-6700.
